Free Speech TV showed From the Edge of the Blade the last few days of 2009 . Unfortunately it was not posted here early enough to notify people... the good news, however is that the full length film is available to watch online, at this link .

"From the Edge of the Blade" will be playing in three different venues under the umbrella of the Canadian Labour International Film Festival (CLIFF), starting on November 28, 2009. The venues are Cowichan, Vancouver and Victoria, all in British Columbia.

The documentary film “From the Edge of the Blade”, about the popular uprising in Oaxaca, Mexico, will be screened at Traditions Café in Olympia on January 29th at 6:30pm. The event is a fundraiser for Mal de Ojo TV .

Before the screening, Abel Ortiz, musician from Oaxaca, will sing and perform live music.

After the screening, community activist Jose Orozco will speak about the current situation in Oaxaca, followed by a general discussion about what lessons we can learn from the Oaxacan social movement.  Filmmaker and activist Jill Friedberg (“This is what Democracy Looks Like”, “Grain of Sand”, “A Little Bit of So Much Truth”), community activist Rochelle Gause, as well as Johan Genberg, director of “From the Edge of the Blade”, will participate in the discussion.

On December 30th, 2008, people in Olympia, WA, came out to protest the Israeli bombing and massacre of the captive civilian population of Gaza. After 18 months of blockade, Israel has launched a massive airstrike campaign against schools, hospitals, university, basic infrastructure and anything else that comes in the way. Hundreds of state-of-the-art warheads have been dropped in one of the most densely populated areas on earth.

Close to 400 Palestinians have died so far, and 4 Israelis.

Movimientos UK are screening "From the Edge of the Blade" on December 23rd at the Notting Hill Arts Club in London. Music, DJ's, and film. Here is the full press release:

"From the Edge of the Blade" will be aired on local TV station Glokal-TV, in Malmö, Sweden. The Swedish name for the film is "Från Knivens Egg".

Poster for the event The film "From the Edge of the Blade", about the Oaxacan popular uprising of 2006, will be screened at Café Mestizo in Chicago, on November 22nd, at 7 PM.

The event is a fundraiser supporting activists and prisoners in Oaxaca.

The screening will take place almost two years after November 25th 2006, when the Mexican Government unleashed a brutal wave of repression against the Oaxacan social movement, killing activists and detaining and torturing hundreds of people - the violent response to a the modest demands for democratization put forth by the social movement.
